British King’s Counsel Vincent Nelson has challenged the High Court’s ruling that, although a confidentiality clause in the now-controversial indemnity agreement he signed with the government in 2017 to turn whistleblower in a legal fees kickback conspiracy, was breached, he had not proven any resulting losses.
In an appeal against the June dismissal of his $96 million indemnity claim against the state by Justice Jacqueline Wilson, Nelson has asked the Court of Appeal to overturn the dismissal of his claim. He has been granted an expedited hearing.
His appeal noted that, although a written summary of the ruling had been delivered, a full judgment and the perfected order had not yet been issued.
