Cop charged over aiding gang member in hospital ‘escape’

A po­lice con­sta­ble has been charged with al­leged­ly trans­port­ing a pur­port­ed gang mem­ber af­ter he was dis­charged from hos­pi­tal last week.

PC Kee­gan Gar­cia was charged with mis­be­hav­iour in pub­lic of­fice on Mon­day, al­most 12 hours af­ter Jus­tice Karen Reid di­rect­ed that he be placed on “pre-charge” bail pend­ing com­ple­tion of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to him.

In a press re­lease is­sued yes­ter­day, the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) stat­ed that Jus­tice Reid’s de­ci­sion was ap­pealed and the Of­fice of the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) sub­se­quent­ly ad­vised that Gar­cia should be charged.
