The Bankers As­so­ci­a­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go (BATT) has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Pres­i­dent & Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of Re­pub­lic Bank Lim­it­ed, Nigel Bap­tiste, as its new Pres­i­dent, ef­fec­tive Au­gust 14, 2025.

Bap­tiste suc­ceeds Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of Sco­tia­bank, Gayle Pa­zos, and will serve a two-year term from 2025 to 2027. He pre­vi­ous­ly held the po­si­tion of Pres­i­dent of BATT and has worked in the bank­ing sec­tor for more than three decades.

Bap­tiste is a grad­u­ate of the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies where he earned a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence with Ho­n­ours and a Mas­ter of Sci­ence in Eco­nom­ics. He al­so com­plet­ed the Ad­vanced Man­age­ment Pro­gramme at Har­vard Busi­ness School, a Diplo­ma with dis­tinc­tion from the ABA Stonier Grad­u­ate School of Bank­ing in the Unit­ed States, and is a mem­ber of the Char­tered In­sti­tute of Bankers in Eng­land.
