Fire partially destroyed a two-storey home in Mon Repos late on Tuesday night, leaving six people homeless and causing devastation for the family who had lived there for generations.
The victim, 74-year-old Henry “Moodie” Dick, of Moodie Stewart Street, was asleep in the living room when he was awakened around 10.10 p.m. by the smell of smoke. Upon checking, he saw flames engulfing the gallery of his home and immediately contacted the Fire Service.
Fire personnel from the Mon Repos Fire Station, under the supervision of acting FSO Ali, responded and extinguished the blaze.
