Kamla Persad-Bissessar was officially sworn in as Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday, alongside Attorney General John Jeremie, during a ceremony held at President’s House in Port of Spain. The proceedings were officiated by President Christine Kangaloo.
In her inaugural address, Persad-Bissessar struck a firm and uncompromising tone, warning members of her administration that misconduct would not be tolerated.
"If you treat the citizens with callousness, contempt, and corrupt ways, I guarantee you, retribution will be swift and brutal," she declared.
