THE North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) has been given until the end of this month to pay $75,000 in compensation to one of its former employees, after the Industrial Court found that he was unlawfully terminated.
In a unanimous ruling delivered last Wednesday, the three judges at the Industrial Court held that the authority failed to follow the mandatory disciplinary procedures set out in law before deciding not to renew the worker's contract, rendering the termination harsh, oppressive and contrary to established principles of good industrial relations.
The panel was chaired by Dr Selwyn Samaroo, with Caron London and Rudranath Indarsingh sitting as members.
