A big scene of love, contentment and relief marked the emotional homecoming of businessman Dominic Hadeed and his wife, Genevieve, as they reunited with their family at their Westmoorings home yesterday after spending a month behind bars under preventive detention orders (PDOs).

The Hadeeds have three children, which was referenced during the couple’s court proceedings. Their attorneys had argued for their release so that they could reunite with their children, who were said to be suffering during their parents’ detention.

The Hadeeds’ case became one of the most high-profile arising out of emergency measures, with attorneys, politicians and civil liberties advocates raising concerns over the prolonged detention without criminal charges being laid against them.
