Why have there been no arrests?
The question was asked yesterday by Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles at a news conference at her Port of Spain office as she called on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to clear the air.
Referring to reports that the intelligence services have discovered a plot to kill Defence Minister Wayne Sturge, Beckles said all the information was provided in a Newsday article. She said the article said the core conspirators included a lawyer with close ties to the UNC, two illegal quarry operators, and a senior military officer, and that the threat was linked to the minister’s refusal to comply with demands to install hand-picked people in both State and constituency-level jobs.
