Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training Prakash Persad said yesterday that Government is examining an expansion of the Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE) programme, including its potential return to private institutions.
Persad was speaking during the National Training Agency’s (NTA) technical and vocational education and training (TVET) community outreach initiative at Rio Claro West Secondary School.
Addressing representatives of private training institutions from the podium, Persad said GATE was being evaluated, and he was reviewing data on how the programme could be expanded.
