THE Government has published the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2026, setting out sweeping powers that will apply for the duration of the current state of public emergency.
The Regulations—Legal Notice 40—made by the President under Section 7 of the Constitution, outline expanded authority for law enforcement, restrictions on certain freedoms, and the creation of offences carrying severe penalties.
