The case involving Police Constable Ryan Greene has renewed scrutiny of whistleblower protection, institutional accountability and the treatment of individuals who expose alleged wrongdoing within Guyana’s public institutions.
Greene, who is accused of leaking CCTV footage connected to the October 12, 2026 shooting incident involving Senior Superintendent Prem Narine and Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed, has become central to a controversy over competing accounts of what transpired that night.
The footage reportedly circulated outside official channels and raised questions about the consistency of the Guyana Police Force’s account and subsequent public statements surrounding the incident. However, the circumstances surrounding the footage, its release and the allegations against those involved remain matters of dispute and have not been conclusively determined by a court.
