RELIEF supplies from Trinidad and Tobago are scheduled to be shipped to Venezuela on Friday as the Government ramps up its humanitarian response following the twin earthquakes that struck the neighbouring country, Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen said yesterday.
Speaking to reporters at a relief collection point in Woodbrook, Ameen said donations gathered at regional corporations across the country are being packaged by disaster management teams before being transported to the Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation Limited (Plipdeco) in Couva for shipment.
She also revealed that Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar visited the Plipdeco facility yesterday morning alongside the Minister of Homeland Security, the Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, and the Minister of Works and Infrastructure to oversee preparations for the relief effort.
