FOR the first time in Tobago’s history, a Hindu temple will open its doors before the end of the year, with about $800,000 so far spent on the facility.
Pulwaty Beepath, president of the Tobago Hindu Society, and other officers associated with the temple at Signal Hill, spoke to the Express yesterday about the project.
Beepath said Tobago’s first-ever Hindu mandir would be a historic milestone. She said critical infrastructural work, including the paving of the road leading to the site, is progressing steadily: “We are looking forward for the Minister of Public Utilities (Barry Padarath) to help us. WASA is doing their part and T&TEC will have to do their part. As soon as we get the lights, we are looking at September or October to open the temple for the people of Tobago—the first Hindu temple on the island,” she said.
