An 18-year-old Venezue­lan is still re­cov­er­ing at the Scar­bor­ough Hos­pi­tal af­ter he was stabbed dur­ing a fight at Store Bay Beach Fa­cil­i­ty on Sun­day, in an in­ci­dent that al­so led to the ar­rest of an­oth­er Venezue­lan man who gave po­lice his name as Roger Alexan­der, the Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter.

Po­lice said Daniel Or­tiz of Shir­van Road was among a group of Venezue­lans at the beach around 9.45 am when they got in­to an ar­gu­ment with a man they had paid to buy drinks. Af­ter the men re­fused to give him ex­tra cash for trans­port, the dis­pute es­ca­lat­ed, and sev­er­al oth­er men joined in.

The Venezue­lans ran but were chased. Or­tiz was caught near Ben’s Bar on Store Bay Lo­cal Road, where he was beat­en and stabbed. He suf­fered a punc­tured lung and mul­ti­ple stab wounds to his back. He was tak­en to the Scar­bor­ough Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he is still be­ing treat­ed.
