An 18-year-old Venezuelan is still recovering at the Scarborough Hospital after he was stabbed during a fight at Store Bay Beach Facility on Sunday, in an incident that also led to the arrest of another Venezuelan man who gave police his name as Roger Alexander, the Homeland Security Minister.
Police said Daniel Ortiz of Shirvan Road was among a group of Venezuelans at the beach around 9.45 am when they got into an argument with a man they had paid to buy drinks. After the men refused to give him extra cash for transport, the dispute escalated, and several other men joined in.
The Venezuelans ran but were chased. Ortiz was caught near Ben’s Bar on Store Bay Local Road, where he was beaten and stabbed. He suffered a punctured lung and multiple stab wounds to his back. He was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital, where he is still being treated.
