This past weekend, The Lotus Cancer Initiative Inc., in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, successfully conducted a comprehensive women’s health outreach in the Essequibo region, reaffirming a shared commitment to improving access to lifesaving preventive healthcare for women across Guyana.
The outreach brought together healthcare professionals and volunteers from several organizations, including the Chinese Medical Brigade and the Rise Foundation at the Lima Regional Hospital. Through their partnership, a wide range of essential health services was provided to women and men in the community, benefiting approximately 70 persons.
Throughout the day, women participated in interactive educational sessions and one and one sessions focused on the importance of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, cervical cancer prevention, and breast cancer awareness. These sessions emphasized the value of early detection, routine screening, and vaccination in reducing the burden of preventable cancers among women.
