Public Utilities Minister Signals Major Water Infrastructure Upgrades

Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath says the Government is preparing to announce major investments in water infrastructure as it seeks to address this country’s ageing pipeline network.

Speaking after the completion of repairs to the Bridal Road water main in Cunupia on Monday evening, he said the project exposed the extent of deteriorating infrastructure across the country and underscored the need for large-scale upgrades.

Minister Padarath confirmed that discussions are already underway ahead of the national budget on replacing ageing mains and pipelines and upgrading critical water infrastructure.
