MINISTER of Homeland Security Roger Alexander said killings related to domestic disputes continued to present a major challenge for law enforcement as Trinidad and Tobagoâs murder toll reached 203 for the year.
Speaking during an interview with the Express at his constituency office in Tunapuna on Monday, Alexander said while police had been able to target gang-related activity through intelligence gathering and enforcement operations, domestic-related killings were often more difficult to prevent.
According to Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) figures, as of the morning of July 13, the country had recorded 203 murders for 2026, compared with 212 at the same period in 2025. The data also showed 12 murders had been recorded so far in July, compared with 22 during the corresponding period last year.
