A tragic incident unfolded at the Piarco International Airport on Tuesday morning when an arriving international passenger suffered a medical emergency and later died despite efforts by first responders.

According to a statement issued by the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, the incident occurred around 6a.m. in the Immigration Hall of the airport’s arrivals section. The passenger, whose identity has not yet been released, became unresponsive shortly after disembarking from an international flight.

The Authority’s Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) team, stationed on-site to handle such emergencies, responded immediately. After initial efforts to resuscitate the individual, the passenger was transported by paramedics to the Arima Health Facility.
