APNU demands answers over billions pumped into GuySuCo amid factory failures

(Kaieteur News) – A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) is calling on President Irfaan Ali to launch an investigation and provide answers on the billions of dollars invested in the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo), amid continued factory failures, poor performance and reports of wastage.

In two video clips posted to his Facebook page, Member of Parliament, Vinceroy Jordan said billions of taxpayers’ dollars have been pumped into GuySuCo for maintenance, production, modernisation and rehabilitation, yet factory failures and operational problems continue, with disturbing images now surfacing of major leakage and wastage.

“The two most recent videos showing leakage at GuySuCo factories raise serious questions: How much is being lost? Who knew about it? When was it reported? What repairs were ordered? And most importantly, what has the government and GuySuCo management done about it?” he asked.
