Cyberattack ruled out in UK air traffic glitch that hit hundreds of flights

LONDON, United Kingdom (AFP) â United Kingdom (UK) air travellers faced more misery Wednesday with nearly 400 flights scrapped across the country, as Britainâs air traffic control service scrambled to recover from a technical glitch which it ruled out as a cyberattack.
After 1,746 flights were cancelled Tuesday following the outage, another 399 were axed Wednesday â the majority to and from London Heathrow, one of Europeâs busiest airports â according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.
More than 330,000 passengers were affected over the two days of disruption, with 155,000 seeing their flights cancelled while around 180,000 experienced delays, industry body Airlines UK said.
