WASHINGTON—Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is among 12 world leaders confirmed to attend President Donald Trump’s Shield of the Americas Summit in the city of Doral over the weekend, the White House confirmed yesterday.
In confirming the attendance of Persad-Bissessar and 11 other Latin American leaders, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the summit’s goal is to promote “freedom, security, and prosperity in our region.”
She said the countries “have really formed a historic coalition to work together to address criminal narco-terrorist gangs and cartels and counter illegal and mass migration into not only the United States but the Western Hemisphere, which remains a key and top priority of this president.”
