An internal disciplinary process has been launched in connection with a viral social media video showing a group of students attacking a male student on Wednesday.
Education Minister Dr. Michael Dowlath, responding to an Urgent Question in the House of Representatives on Friday, confirmed that written statements have been obtained from the students involved and eyewitnesses.
“The parents of the students involved have been contacted for a conference at the school. The school has also been directed to convene disciplinary hearings in accordance with the Ministry’s policies and National School Code of Conduct, following which appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. The Ministry will continue to monitor the matter to ensure that the disciplinary process is completed.”
