A State of Emergency anti-crime exercise in Mayaro has led to the arrest of two people and the seizure of a firearm, ammunition and cannabis.
Officers of the Mayaro Criminal Investigation Department, working alongside the Canine Unit, carried out the operation during the early hours of Sunday 22 March 2026 under the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026.
Police arrested a 28-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, both of Bristol Village, Mayaro, after they found them in possession of a homemade shotgun, 50 live rounds and six spent 12-gauge cartridges. Neither individual held a valid Firearm User’s Licence.
