The Min­istry of Trans­port and Civ­il Avi­a­tion has an­nounced the in­tro­duc­tion of the Li­cens­ing Au­thor­i­ty Dri­ver’s Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Pro­gramme. The ini­tia­tive aims to as­sist dis­qual­i­fied dri­vers in re­gain­ing their dri­ving priv­i­leges while en­cour­ag­ing safer road use.

The pro­gramme is be­ing im­ple­ment­ed in ac­cor­dance with Sec­tion 88N(3) of the Mo­tor Ve­hi­cles and Road Traf­fic (Amend­ment) Act No. 9 of 2017. The leg­is­la­tion re­quires per­sons whose dri­ving per­mits have been dis­qual­i­fied to com­plete a re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion pro­gramme at no cost as a con­di­tion for re­in­state­ment.

The sched­ule be­gins in Ca­roni on Mon­day, Au­gust 18 and Tues­day, Au­gust 19, 2025, at the Li­cens­ing Di­vi­sion Head­quar­ters, Fred­er­ick Set­tle­ment. It will con­tin­ue in San Fer­nan­do on Mon­day, Au­gust 25 and Tues­day, Au­gust 26, 2025, at the San Fer­nan­do North Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre. Dates and venues for Port-of-Spain and To­ba­go will be an­nounced lat­er.
