A total of 161 candidates and 17 political parties are participating in the 2025 general election.
Trinidad and Tobago seems to have returned to the era of a multiplicity of small parties fielding a handful of candidates.
Only three out of the 161 candidates are independents, with the rest coming from various political parties, according to information released by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) last night after the close of nominations for the general election to be held on April 28.
