For­mer Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties Nizam Baksh is urg­ing world lead­ers to pur­sue peace, as Mus­lims in Trinidad and To­ba­go cel­e­brate Eid fol­low­ing the holy month of Ra­madan.

Speak­ing to re­porters at the Bar­rack­pore Is­lam­ic Cen­tre dur­ing his Eid mes­sage yes­ter­day, Baksh said the oc­ca­sion rep­re­sents a time for uni­ty, re­flec­tion and strength­en­ing re­la­tion­ships with­in com­mu­ni­ties, de­scrib­ing it as a “bind­ing in­gre­di­ent” that brings hu­man­i­ty to­geth­er.

But he warned that on­go­ing in­ter­na­tion­al con­flicts, in­clud­ing ten­sions in­volv­ing the Unit­ed States, Is­rael and Iran, con­tin­ue to cause im­mense hu­man suf­fer­ing.
