Keshorn Wal­cott se­cured sec­ond place in the men’s javelin at the Kami­la Skolimows­ka Memo­r­i­al in Chorzów, Poland, on Sat­ur­day. The Trinidad and To­ba­go throw­er record­ed a best dis­tance of 82.54 me­tres at the Di­a­mond League meet.

The event was won by Kenya’s Julius Yego, who pro­duced a throw of 83.60 me­tres. It marked Yego’s first Di­a­mond League vic­to­ry since 2016, end­ing a long wait for the for­mer world cham­pi­on. Moldovan ath­lete, An­dri­an Mar­dare, fin­ished third with a throw of 82.38 me­tres which was a sea­son best.

Wal­cott, the 2012 Olympic cham­pi­on, con­tin­ued his con­sis­tent sea­son on the in­ter­na­tion­al cir­cuit with an­oth­er top-three fin­ish. His re­sult keeps him in con­tention for points in the Di­a­mond League stand­ings ahead of the fi­nal.
