Health Minister Dr Lackram Bodoe has announced that strict border management measures have been implemented in Trinidad and Tobago, under which persons arriving from countries affected by an Ebola outbreak will undergo health screening and possible quarantine.
In a statement to Parliament on Wednesday, the Minister also urged citizens to reconsider travel to high risk countries.
He noted that there is an outbreak of Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease in Central and East Africa and said that the Ministry of Health, in its continued efforts to proactively manage public health risks at the nation’s borders and ensure the safety of citizens, considered it necessary to issue urgent preventative guidance.
