THE story of the night of Concacaf Zone qualifying for the 2026 FIFA men’s World Cup was the qualification of Caribbean nationals Haiti and Curaçao for the World Cup.
Haiti topped Group C with a win over Nicaragua and Curaçao won Group B and qualified for its first World Cup, becoming the smallest nation ever to do so, with a population of just 156,115 as of January 1, 2025. Curaçao secured a 0-0 draw with Jamaica.
Group B runners-up Jamaica will get a final shot at a World Cup spot via a tough playoff in Mexico in March, where they will face Bolivia, the Democratic Republic of Congo—who defeated both Cameroon and Nigeria in the African playoffs—along with Iraq, New Caledonia, and another team for two spots in the World Cup.
