The Blue Wave Harmony, the newest vessel slated for inter-island service, sustained damage to its hull during berthing manoeuvres at the Port of Scarborough on Friday morning while undergoing its second sea trial.
According to the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (PATT), the incident occurred as the vessel was attempting to berth at the Port of Scarborough following its departure from the Port of Port of Spain earlier in the day. Only crew members were on board at the time, and there were no reports of injuries.
PATT said the vessel’s experienced captain was being assisted by a marine pilot, in keeping with standard operational procedures. Preliminary information suggests that weather conditions, including strong winds, may have contributed to the incident, although all circumstances remain under assessment.
