Re­pub­lic Bank has an­nounced that, ef­fec­tive Au­gust 21, 2025, a new max­i­mum spend­ing lim­it of US$2,500 per billing cy­cle will ap­ply to all for­eign trans­ac­tions on its cred­it cards.

The cap will ap­ply to all in­ter­na­tion­al trans­ac­tions con­duct­ed out­side of Trinidad and To­ba­go, as well as on­line pur­chas­es from over­seas mer­chants – in­clud­ing those billed in Trinidad and To­ba­go dol­lars (TTD). Cus­tomers whose US-dol­lar cred­it lim­it is less than US$2,500 will be re­strict­ed to their ex­ist­ing lim­it.

The bank clar­i­fied that lo­cal trans­ac­tions, whether on­line or at in-store mer­chants, will re­main un­af­fect­ed.
