Man charged, remanded for murder of sex worker

(Kaieteur News) – Kanand Ojha who has been accused of murdering a sex worker back in 2015 was on Friday charged with murder, police reported on Monday.

Ojha was charged with the offence of murder in connection with the death of Noel Nephi Luthers, which occurred on 22nd July, 2015. Ojha was arrested on Friday 18th September, 2026, by ranks from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters.

He appeared on Monday before Chief Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where the charge was read to him. Ojha was not required to enter a plea and was subsequently remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned to Monday 12th October, 2026.
