A 39-year-old busi­ness­man is in sta­ble con­di­tion af­ter he was re­port­ed­ly shot by a se­cu­ri­ty guard af­ter a fight out­side a Ca­roni gro­cery store on Mon­day night.

Po­lice said the busi­ness­man was at the gro­cery on Kel­ly Vil­lage, South Bank Road, at 7.15 pm when he got a phone call and left the store to head to his green Kia Sportage.

On reach­ing the carpark and en­ter­ing the ve­hi­cle, the man re­port­ed that he was ap­proached by a se­cu­ri­ty guard, who or­dered him to get out.
