The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago says the revocation of two Special Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) licences for Trinidad and Tobago to develop gas fields straddling T&T and Venezuela is “disappointing news, but not unexpected”.
In a release yesterday, the chamber stated, “The Energy Chamber of T&T has noted the news that the two OFAC special licences f or the Dragon and Cocuina fields have been revoked by the United States government. This is disappointing news but not unexpected, given the previous cancellation of other general and special licences for companies working in Venezuela.”
It said it was important that the Government continues to engage actively with both the United States and Venezuelan governments to find a way to pursue the importation of pipeline gas from Venezuela.
