(Kaieteur News) – The aesthetics of the popular No. 63 Beach in Corentyne, Region Six received a significant boost on Wednesday with the official opening of its own recreational park, expanding the region’s tourism profile with another family-friendly space within the region.
First Lady, Mrs. Arya Ally, under whose office the initiative was executed, delivered the keynote address at the commissioning ceremony, which was attended by Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill, Member of Parliament (MP) Zamal Hussain, Regional Chairman Junior Basant, Regional Vice-Chairman Wajid Khan, Regional Executive Officer (REO) Ronald Harsaywack, and other regional officials.
As part of the National Beautification Project undertaken countrywide through her office, the First Lady visited Region Six last month to inspect multiple sites, and renewed her commitment to both installing additional recreational spaces and facilities, and providing upgrades where necessary. The newly commissioned park, she noted, is the 18th and largest of its kind, and sits ideally as a symbol of development. “What stands before us today is a remarkable transformation of acres of land made possible through meaningful collaboration with the Government of Guyana and the community. For generations, the No. 63 Beach has held a special place in the hearts of Guyanese. Many of us have fond memories while traveling near or far with our families to fly our kites, enjoy the sea breeze, spend time with loved ones, and simply escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life,” Mrs. Ally emphasized.
