(Kaieteur News) – Georgetown International Academy (GIA) and defending champions Leonora Primary continued their impressive runs in the 13th Annual Courts Pee Wee Under-11 Boys Football Tournament, securing victories to advance to the quarter-finals following Saturday’s Round of 16 action at the Ministry of Education ground.
GIA ‘A’ edged St John the Baptist Primary 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter, with tournament top scorer Yoseph Rivas once again proving decisive. The winner eventually came as Rivas found the breakthrough in the 39th minute to settle the contest and maintain his scoring streak, having found the back of the net in every match leading up to the knockout stage.
St John the Baptist Primary fought to find an equaliser but were unable to breach the GIA defence, bringing their title campaign to an end.
