Public Utilities and Aviation Minister Deodat Indar, during a visit to the Plaisance Railway Embankment Road Project, clarified that the pole supports a critical 69 kilovolt (Kv) transmission line and cannot be removed at this time, as doing so would result in electricity outages along the East Coast of Demerara (ECD).
The transmission line can only be safely relocated after the alternative transmission line being constructed through the East Coast backlands is completed. This is expected by the end of November.
