Police are claiming a major blow was dealt to a prominent drug trafficking network operating in the South Western Division as law enforcement officers seized over $292 million worth of illegal drugs during an operation in Palo Seco on Wednesday.
The seizure, which included large quantities of high-grade Colombian "creepy" marijuana and cocaine, was the result of an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (T.O.C.U.), with support from the Vetted Unit of Trinidad and Tobago and the South Western Division Police.
Acting on intelligence gathered following the arrest of a key associate of the drug trafficking network on Tuesday, officers maintained surveillance in a remote area along Quarry Road, known for its dense forest and limited access.
