THOUSANDS of imitation Nike and Puma footwear are to be destroyed, after a local store was declared to have infringed their trademarks.

During the matter yesterday, Justice Seepersad said that importers must act responsibly and should resist misrepresenting to consumers that products are branded and authentic when such is not the case.

Nike Innovative CV and Puma SE took legal action against DB Funstyles Clothing Ltd in Penal for trademark infringement, after signs identical or similar to their trademarks were found on footwear imported and consigned to the local company.
