Of­fi­cers of the South­ern and South West­ern Di­vi­sions seized am­mu­ni­tion and cannabis dur­ing co­or­di­nat­ed ex­er­cis­es on Wednes­day.

Be­tween 7:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, Area East, con­duct­ed an in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise in St Mary’s Vil­lage, Moru­ga. Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, the team went to a forest­ed area about 400 me­tres off Poui Road and car­ried out a search.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers found 46 rounds of 5.56mm am­mu­ni­tion con­cealed in­side a pair of socks. The am­mu­ni­tion was seized pend­ing fur­ther en­quiries. No ar­rests were re­port­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.
