(Kaieteur News) – Legal counsel representing Wayne Barker, who was charged with possession of firearm back in October, and placed on remand after being refused bail, successfully had his bail refusal overturned on Wednesday at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court.
This development comes after the 36-year-old Barker, a gold miner of Lot 58, Lane Avenue, Georgetown, was initially denied bail when he appeared before Magistrate Shareefah Parks at the Weldaad Magistrate’s Court on 16th October.
Details of the matter indicate that on 14th October, 2026, at 22:50 hours, ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) were conducting a stop-and-search exercise in front of Fort Wellington Police Station. It was said that during that time, ranks stopped a white Toyota Axio motor car bearing registration number HD 6296. A search of the vehicle and driver revealed nothing illegal.
