DESPITE reports of sluggish sales in the capital last week leading up to Christmas, Boxing Day shopping in downtown Port of Spain showed signs of improvement, with several retailers reporting a steady flow of customers.
Last week, retailers complained of slow sales, citing reduced consumer spending and tighter household budgets. However, Boxing Day appeared to bring renewed interest, particularly as shoppers sought discounted items.
The Express yesterday visited Frederick Street, Henry Street and Charlotte Street, three of the city’s main commercial corridors. It appeared like any normal shopping day, with steady numbers of shoppers on the streets.
