Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says she would not hesitate to call another state of emergency (SoE) despite the passage of the Special Operations Bill 2026.
In a statement via social media yesterday, Persad-Bissessar stated that the passage of the bill follows a “highly successful” SoE during which 3,552 persons were charged.
She noted that on Tuesday the Special Operations Bill is slated to be passed in the Senate without amendments.
