A NEW magistrate and new attorneys were yesterday a part of the court case where Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) charges have been laid against officials at Paria Fuel Trading Company Ltd and Land and Marine Construction Services (LMCS).

A new complainant is also expected to be appointed by the time the matter next comes up for hearing in December, when the senior magistrate said she will hopefully be able to reach a position in relation to the present issue in the matter.

Paria’s general manager Mushtaq Mohammed, its terminal operations manager Collin Piper, and LMCS’ director Kazim Ali Snr have pleaded not guilty to offences allegedly committed under the OSH Act, following the February 2022 death of divers Kazim Ali Jnr, Fyzal Kurban, Rishi Nagassar and Yusuf Henry. They were sucked into a 30-inch diameter underwater pipeline in Pointe-a-Pierre while conducting maintenance work.
