The CenĀtral Bank of Trinidad and ToĀbaĀgo said yesĀterĀday it did not stop the AuĀdiĀtor GenĀerĀal from auĀditĀing the acĀcounts of the counĀtryās fiĀnanĀcial regĀuĀlaĀtor.
ReĀspondĀing to Guardian MeĀdia quesĀtions, the CenĀtral Bank said it was the OfĀfiĀcer of the AuĀdiĀtor GenĀerĀal that optĀed not to acĀcept the asĀsignĀment to auĀdit the CenĀtral Bank acĀcounts.
Asked why did the CenĀtral Bank end the long-standĀing reĀlaĀtionĀship by which the AuĀdiĀtor GenĀerĀal auĀditĀed the Bankās acĀcount, the CenĀtral Bank said, āThe OfĀfice of the AuĀdiĀtor GenĀerĀal inĀdiĀcatĀed that it would not be in a poĀsiĀtion to acĀcept an apĀpointĀment as auĀdiĀtor for the fiĀnanĀcial stateĀments of the CenĀtral Bank of Trinidad and ToĀbaĀgo for the year endĀed SepĀtemĀber 30, 2024.ā
