PRIME MINISTER Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced yesterday that Cabinet has approved the implementation of salary adjustments and the settlement of outstanding arrears owed to employees of the National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT).
In a statement to Parliament at the Red House, Port of Spain, Persad-Bissessar said her Government has delivered on another election promise of prioritising workers. She asserted that her administration will find the money to pay the workers, adding that more will be shared in the upcoming national budget, scheduled for “early” October.
The Prime Minister’s announcement concludes a long-standing industrial relations matter involving a collective agreement between the NIBTT and the Public Services Association (PSA), which was signed for the period January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2016.
