FOUNDER of International Men's Day (IMD) Dr Jerome Teelucksingh said the State should ensure there was legislation to punish people who make false accusations of rape and sexual assault.
He made the comment during a TV6 Morning Edition interview in response to a case where seven men who were charged for sexual assault were eventually freed after a lengthy process.
Teelucksingh, who is also a history lecturer at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine, said the trial process can result in trauma, ostracism, and, at times, suicide.
