World Athletics Championships finalist Navasky Anderson and women’s defending champion Kelly-Ann Beckford won their respective 800m finals on Saturday’s third day of the JAAA national championships at the National Stadium.
Anderson, the men’s national record holder, won his second national championships and first since 2022 when he led from the front to win in 1:47.29, beating Kirk Dawkins of Florida A&M University who ran 1:50.26 and Dujhaumtai Lewis who was third in 1:56.84.
Beckford, who ran a personal best 1:58.46 earlier this year, clinched back-to-back titles, running 2:02.74, ahead of 1500m champion Adelle Tracey’s 2:03.93 with Leanna Lewis third with 2:04.82. -Paul A Reid
