The address from Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Land and Legal Affairs, Saddam Hosein, at the 4th UN High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism on June 29, 2026, has been described as significant.
Professor Hamid Ghany said it was especially important given the country’s recent election to a temporary seat on the UN Security Council.
“Trinidad and Tobago, based on what he was saying, looking at the global situation with regard to terrorism and is commited to counter terrorism movement at the UN. And the Minister did reference the fact that Trinidad and Tobago will assume a seat on the Security Council of the United Nations with effect from first of January 2027 until the 31st of December 2028. So that Trinidad and Tobago will have a seat in a forum like the security council of the United Nations.”
