A HIGH Court judge has found a 37-year-old Chaguanas man not guilty of sexual penetration of a 16-year-old girl last January at a guest house in Central Trinidad.
The verdict was announced on Monday by Justice Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds after she weighed the evidence presented at trial by both the prosecution and the defence.
While the prosecution presented documents to show that the man signed the girl out of her school, CCTV footage of them entering and leaving the guest house as well as footage of the girl supposedly purchasing a “morning after pill” at a pharmacy after leaving the guest house, the judge found that the prosecution still did not provide sufficient evidence to convince her that the man actually had sex with the girl.
